Fluid – Best of 2017

Posted: 31st December 2017 by Dave in Mixtapes, Playlists, Podcast

Nerd Show curates all of the music heard of the Soma FM station Fluid. It’s described best as the following:

“That strange point on a musical map, where Instrumental Hip-Hop, Chilled Trap, woozy Electronica, and Future Soul meet, exchange ideas, collaborate, and spawn in the soft, bluish glow. Unwind and detangle amidst the soft harmonies, deep bass, smooth chords, ethereal vocals, and dynamic percussion. Not recommended for those operating heavy equipment.”

This show features over 30 of the tracks “loved” by listeners. It’s in reverse popularity order, and there are certainly some surprises. Enjoy!

Natasha Kmeto – KEXP

Posted: 10th May 2016 by Dave in Shows, Video

I was able to see Natasha Kmeto open for Beacon at Kilby Court a few months ago and I was amazed at how solid her live performance was. Impressive voice, presence, and show. I picked up her albums, Crisis and Inevitable, on cassette and had a good chat with her. Lovely.

The Range – Potential (Album)

Posted: 28th April 2016 by Dave in Albums, Video

The Range is a relatively new artist to the bigger electronic scene, and Potential has put his work another rung or three up the ladder. One of the show’s favorites of the year, it’s got a fascinating, dynamic vibe throughout. Sometimes it has a House hint, then a UK Bass vibe, and, well, just listen…

Moderat – Reminder (from III)

Posted: 10th April 2016 by Dave in Albums, Video

Moderat is the collaboration between Apparat and Modeskeletor, whose third release “III” has made a big impression on the show this year. A great blend of expert electronic production and solid vocals, hooks, and the like. One of my favorites of 2016 so far.

Bob Moses – KEXP

Posted: 24th March 2016 by Dave in Albums, Video

This duo called Bob Moses, who I’d previously thought to be a single artist, have really been on the radar lately. They performed recently in the studios of KEXP and were a relatively high-profile act at SXSW 2016. I encouraged a few people to listen and they were very enthusiastic about the sound.

Do check out their release called Days Gone By on the Domino label: here

Enjoy the performance at KEXP also:
